Farewell to the financial tsunami of 2009, the annual output value of LED Taiwan factory increased by 150% in January

According to LED industry data research institute LEDinside data, in January 2010, Taiwan's listed LED manufacturers' total revenue totaled NT$6.788 billion, up 3.7% (YoY+150%) compared with December 2009 revenue of 6.545 billion yuan. Among them, LED chip factory's total revenue in January 2010 was 3.11 billion yuan, up 2.1% from December 2009; LED packaging manufacturers' revenue in January reached 3.674 billion, an increase of 5.1% from December.

LEDinside observes the recent market conditions and is still in the traditional low quarter. The industry visibility is about 1 to 1.5 months. Most manufacturers believe that demand will not be apparent after the Chinese Lunar Year. However, in the recent large-size backlights, such as LCD TVs, LCD screens and other backlight demand, has already supported the revenue of some manufacturers. In addition, due to the increasing demand for security monitoring, the demand for infrared LEDs is also quite good.

Looking at Taiwan's overall chip factory revenue in January, revenue in January was 3.11 billion yuan, up 2.1% from December (MoM+2.1%, YoY +201%). At present, the demand for large-size backlights is strong, which makes the utilization rate of blue LEDs in the chip factory still fully loaded. However, the demand for traditional quaternary LEDs has not improved, and the utilization rate of most manufacturers is still around 50-70%.

In addition, some manufacturers have experienced a slight decline in revenue due to the relocation of new MOCVD machines or changes in customer specifications. Overall, the revenue of the chip factory is still outstanding, compared with the same period in 2009. The growth of up to 200% is one of the focuses of Taiwan's industry.

As for the downstream LED package, the overall revenue in January was 3.674 billion (MoM +5.1%, YoY +118%). After deducting the inventory factor of the packaging factory in December 2009, the packaging factory's revenue in January 2010 slightly recovered. Some packaging companies have received orders for large-size backlight applications, so revenues have grown against the trend in the light quarter, and recent lighting demand is also very strong. In addition, the opening of the 2010 Shanghai World Expo is just around the corner, so the outdoor display orders of the LED factory are in the delivery, which will help the LED manufacturers' revenue.
