India's $35 PC will start selling next year

According to reports, the cheapest US$35 PC previously developed in India will be listed around January 10 next year.

The Indian government recently announced that they had handed over their PC production orders to HCl Technologies, a well-known Indian IT service provider. In order to increase the application of IT technology in education, HCl Technologies will also help the Indian government produce 100,000 cheap PCs.

HCl Technologies said that they confirmed that these products will be put on sale around January 10, 2011. For this reason, they will provide Rs. 300 crore for production. The first batch of products shipped will be 1 million units.

Although this PC is divided into five-inch, 7-inch and 9-inch three sizes, the first batch will be only 7-inch type. They are equipped with 2GB of memory, WiFi wireless support, built-in camera, USB interface. In order to facilitate some areas with insufficient power supply, the PC uses a 2W system driver. Thanks to the Android operating system, it also features browsers, PDF readers, and media players.
