Take advantage of each other, joint venture
The automotive lighting market is in the midst of a transition to semiconductor-based lighting technology, and the importance and influence of software and electronics is increasing. To this end, Continental and the OSRAM Group have joined forces to develop state-of-the-art headlight modules and taillights and interior lighting solutions for automotive manufacturers and auto parts suppliers.
Continental and Osram Group combine their strengths to develop the most advanced and intelligent headlights, rear lighting and interior lighting solutions.
The joint venture company plans to grow at a double-digit annual growth rate over the next five years. High growth rates are based on strong growth in the LED market and laser-based lighting modules and solutions and related electronics markets. Moreover, the first batch of products developed by the joint venture is expected to be put into mass production in 2021.
Accelerate innovation in automotive lighting with technology
The joint venture takes smart car lighting technology to a whole new level, continuously applying digital technology to its automotive lighting solutions, and centrally providing intelligent lighting functions for cars. The joint venture company OSRAM Continental is working to ensure the market penetration of LED technology in all automotive segments by combining lighting and smart electronics.
The joint venture not only uses software-based solutions to create configurable light distribution systems, such as anti-glare headlights and high beam, but is also actively developing smart lighting capabilities. For example, with the data of navigation systems and sensors, vehicles equipped with these solutions in the future will be able to send alerts to other road users while driving.
Car lighting has taken a new step: in addition to anti-glare headlights, cars can also send warning messages to other road users.
