Taiwan’s “Executive Yuan†passed the “Economic Climate Response Plan†on December 1st. In response to the sluggish economy, the “Ministry of Economic Affairs†compiled nearly NT$9 billion to boost domestic demand and exports to promote investment, assist industry, promote consumption and fight exports. The four major measures are fully committed to Taiwan's economic growth in 2012, and the economic growth rate is above 4%.
In terms of LEDs, the “Ministry of Economic Affairs†also expanded the budget for setting up LED street lamps in 2012. In 2012, only NT$180 million was set up to set up LED Street Lights in Keelung City, Hsinchu City and Chiayi City. In order to expand domestic demand and boost the LED industry boom, the Energy Bureau in 2012 added NT$2 billion to install Led Street Lights in Taipei, New Taipei City, Taichung City, Tainan City and Kaohsiung City, and 14 counties and cities. It is expected to replace 40% of the mercury street lights.
