Create a wireless HDMI MIMO digital video test system with NI VideoMASTER and PXI

challenge:
Developed a Manufacturing Test System (MTS) that tests wireless HDMI multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) products based on current industry standards and eliminates the need for manual intervention when determining video transmission quality.
solution:
Using NI PXI, NI VideoMASTER, NI LabVIEW, and NI TestStand management software, develop an automated system that validates digital video signal parameters from channel delay measurement and color verification to sync pulse timing, noise spectrum, and nonlinear measurements.

Benetel has extensive experience in radio frequency (RF) and wireless design and test systems, and we are committed to delivering high quality, high performance products to a diverse customer base across the globe. Digital video testing occupies a large part of our business, requiring a flexible, adaptable, and fully upgraded test system to support a subset of wireless digital video streaming products.
Our application requires a manufacturing test system (MTS) to test the transmission unit and the receiving unit. The transmission unit modulates based on the wireless medium through multiple input and multiple output configurations of the plurality of wireless output channels and the low rate data output wireless channel, and transmits the downstream HD video and audio content.
The receiving unit receives the wireless high definition video content and demodulates the video content using a plurality of wireless data channels that generate an uplink channel of the data content transmission and a multiple input multiple output configuration of the low rate channel to regenerate video, audio, and control information. The receiving unit outputs digital uncompressed video, digital audio and control information, all of which are output through the HDMI connector.
We will manufacture test system software based on Benetel's universal test platform, a powerful, flexible software core based on NI TestStand software and LabVIEW software for applications requiring multi-threading, database connectivity and test fixture control applications. Actively support.
We will manufacture NI PXI systems based on NI VideoMASTER hardware for test system hardware. The hardware system consists of the NI PXI-6542 digital video generator and logic module, and supports various modules such as the NI PXI-5122 high-speed digital analyzer. , NI PXI RF signal generator and NI PXI-8430 serial interface module. We route the signal through a high quality cable and connect it to a pair of TX (transmit) and RX (receive) protective shields, which is essential for unit test based aerial testing.
We can use the manufacturing test system to independently test UUTs in TX and RX. This parallel test approach forms the core of Benetel's production test strategy, which greatly improves overall throughput. The automatic scheduling function in NI's TestStand software automatically schedules parallel test execution sequences, which also improves test operation efficiency, reduces test time and increases resource utilization.
We use a manufacturing test system to analyze various wireless video signals at any RF frequency with signal resolutions of 720i/p and 1080i/p, including 5.8 and 60GHz. We have configured many functions for the test system, from recording serial numbers, configurations and software versions to video and audio tests such as horizontal timing, channel delay, color bars, K-factors, noise spectrum, distortion, and multi-burst testing. The system also includes a high-rate automatic implementation of the Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio (PSNR) algorithm, which we also use as a human perception approximation of image reconstruction quality to verify the quality of the video image in transmission.
The primary production requirement for testing wireless and other video signals is the quality inspection of transmitted video and audio. From past experience, video quality verification has always been a subjective science. Efforts to automate this particular test requirement continue to rely on manual intervention to maintain quality at an acceptable level with significant throughput effects. Using NI VideoMASTER to objectively quantify and measure a large number of peak SNR digital signal parameters, we have greatly improved confidence in the quality of the video signal while maintaining high throughput.
In addition to video quality, the manufacturing test system measures parameters such as audio quality, received signal strength and upstream information. These test requirements take advantage of the serial interface tools and string processing capabilities of LabVIEW and NI TestStand software to quickly and reliably parse data to and from the UUT.
Using the advantages of National Instruments tools We use a PXI-based system to integrate all modular system requirements into one installation package. Combining a relatively low development budget PXI driver with the widely available LabVIEW built-in tools and toolkits creates a cost-effective system compared to other methods. We can also benefit from NI's effective after-sales support. In addition, the NI VideoMASTER PXI-6542 digital video generator easily interacts with the Benetel Universal Test Platform to use a dedicated test mode so that we can develop a single mode that combines all the components together for any video or An image testing application is very necessary. By reducing the need for switching between test modes, the number of samples required is reduced, and NI's VideoMASTER generator saves a lot of test time from the entire test time.
