Perhaps seeing this opportunity, Japanese startup Flicfit has designed a new 3D scanning system to help both businesses and customers find the right shoes as quickly as possible.
Flicfit's system consists of two main components: a shoe scanner and a foot scanner. The former allows the merchant to use a 3D scan of all the internal dimensions of the shoe to build a database, while the latter can pass through the customer's foot for about 10 seconds. The official website did not disclose the exact price, but according to the Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun, the initial cost of the system in each store is 500,000 yen (about RMB 29,100), and it must pay 300,000 yen per month (about RMB). The additional rent of 1.75 million yuan is currently used by merchants in Shinjuku Isetan and Hankyu Umeda Department Store.
