Quantum expands LATTUS object storage

Recently, Quantum announced the expansion of the Lattus product line to help large companies extend the value of Lattus object storage beyond big data archiving.

Since the fall of Lattus in the fall of 2012, customers have shown a keen interest in the value it provides to small business organizations with fast-growing big data and to commercial data center customers seeking comprehensive backup and archiving solutions. Lattus is able to access near-line archived data in high-persistence, highly scalable, and cost-effective disk solutions that never require a "forklift" upgrade -- a permanent way of disk archiving. To make it easier for customers to see and evaluate everything that Lattus can provide, and without investing in their own installation resources, Quantum announced today that it will deploy Lattus in the most advanced SuperNAP data center in the Switch community for implementation in the cloud. New Lattus model

Both the Quantum Lattus-X and Lattus-M solutions are suitable for low-volume configurations for big data customers. Lattus-M integrates StorNext Storage ManagerTM's automated policy tiering and archiving capabilities with object storage technologies.

For commercial data center customers, Lattus provides disk archiving with highly durable, self-healing, and automated multi-layer protection, eliminating the need for a separate backup infrastructure and saving on the costs associated with managing backups.
