Everyone knows that the formation of alum blooms in the coagulation experiment is an important factor in the quality of the test. Often the alum blooms are large and dense to show that the precipitation effect of the coagulation experiment is good, and many new users will cause the alum blooms due to improper operation. It is difficult to form or very small phenomenon, so why is this? ? What are the factors that affect the formation of alum? ? ? Today, the editor summarizes the most important factors affecting the formation of alum in the coagulation experiment as follows:
Definition of alum: the so-called alum in the water-making process means that the alum is hydrolyzed and adsorbed together with the impurities of the water to form flocs. With proper stirring, the flocs will adhere to each other and form a cluster. This kind of object is called alum flower.
The main factors affecting the formation of alum:
1) Stirring speed. Generally, the speed of the stirrer must be fast first and then slow. If the stirring is too violent in the reaction stage, too much air will enter the liquid and bubbles will be generated, which will make it difficult to form alum;
2) Types of coagulants, for example, the most commonly used PAC, because the flocs of PAC are very small, so when the PAC is evenly stirred, adding some PAM will have an obvious coagulation aid effect;
3) Coagulant dosage. Generally, if the coagulant dosage is too large/too small, it will be difficult to form alum, and the coagulation effect is also very poor. Of course, this must be adjusted according to the proportion of personal treatment. It is recommended to do a small experiment first to find the best dosage;
4) Stirring time, especially in the reaction stage (sedimentation stage), the stirring time should preferably be 20-30 rpm slowly for at least 5 minutes;
5) Settling time, when there are obvious particles in the beaker collide with each other and slowly descend, then settle down for at least 5-10 minutes.
The above are all the "most intuitive" factors that affect the formation of alum in the coagulation experiment. In addition, they are closely related to the turbidity of the original water sample, the pH value, the water treatment ratio, and the state of the agent (particles/solution). Finally, Wuhan Meiyu advises all users here that it is best to mix the medicine into a solution before adding it every time.
