Beijing, May 14, 2013 -Broadcom Corporation (Nasdaq: BRCM), a global leader in innovative solutions for wired and wireless communications semiconductors, announced the launch of a highly integrated processor SoC for enterprise access points (EAP). The ARM®-based StrataGX ™ BCM58522 series of products are designed to optimize 5G WiFi, the latest IEEE 802.11ac standard, which will increase the processing capacity by 10 times and adopt advanced architectural functions to achieve the security integration closely related to applications. Wired and wireless Enterprise network.
As the number of networked devices and cloud applications continues to rise, the performance and capacity challenges facing the original network are increasing, putting a lot of pressure on enterprise access points. After the emergence of "BYOD" (work with your own equipment), IT managers will also face more severe security challenges due to the increase of network threats. According to the 2012 security report of service provider NQ Mobile, the number of malware attacks on mobile devices increased by 163% in 20123. Broadcom StrataGX series products provide new functions to meet the above challenges, including integrated hardware cryptographic accelerators, virtual private network (VPN) support, and sufficient control processing bandwidth to ensure high performance.
Ed Redmond, vice president and general manager of Broadcom ’s Computing and Connectivity Division, said: “Our latest StrataGX series continues the momentum of the rapid development of StrataGX ’s product portfolio and protects the network with new features to protect enterprises from emerging malware and Attacks from other threats. Broadcom is launching a highly integrated, energy-efficient processor that will enable users to quickly adopt BYOD and drive enterprise demand for 5G WiFi. "
StrataGX BCM58522 series products have the following main advantages:
• Provide high-performance Wi-Fi for large venues, such as stadiums, arenas and conference centers
• Integrated dual-core ARM CPU, Ethernet switch, accelerator engine, high-speed I / O, and memory interface to meet the power requirements and size limitations of enterprise access points-can reduce power consumption by up to 80% 2
• Use programmable packets and protocol accelerators to achieve high-performance control offload, and configure wireless access point (CAPWAP) and general routing encapsulation (GRE) channels
• In low-power mode, it can power enterprise access points through IEEE 802.3af active Ethernet (PoE)
• Reduce engineering development volume and time to market through Linux Development Kit (LDK), benchmark design and standard development source software
• StrataGX BCM58522 series works with Broadcom® 5G WiFi BCM43460 or BCM43520 devices to achieve the performance required for mission-critical Wi-Fi access
Product availability:
The BCM58522 series is being tested and is scheduled for mass production in the fourth quarter of 2013, and currently provides a complete set of benchmark platforms, including the BCM58522 series and Broadcom 5G WiFi equipment. Broadcom's comprehensive data center and enterprise network solutions have been exhibited at Interop 2013, booth number 2039.
