Bob Wang, product manager of Molex's Global Commercial Products Business Unit, said that Molex LDS technology provides a unique advantage over standard electromechanical manufacturing technology. LDS technology has the potential to provide smaller size, higher performance, less component count and Lighter weight, it is the ideal technology to meet the high performance requirements of the hearing aid industry.

Molex Laser Direct Structuring (LDS) technology provides a unique ability to selectively coat injection molded thermoplastics, providing hearing aid designers with the ability to integrate highly complex electrical and mechanical properties in compact applications.
For hearing aids, compared with traditional technologies such as printed circuit boards, flexible circuits or insert molding technology, LDS technology can significantly save space resources due to its unique 3D selective coating capability, which greatly meets people's needs for hearing aid shape design . At the same time, Bob also emphasized that LDS technology can be shared with many supporting technologies, such as over-molding, plastic welding (ultrasonic and laser), insert molding, electroplating, wire bonding and SMT, etc. Helps improve the functionality of hearing aid components.
Take Molex's newly launched balanced armature audio receiver product as an example. The volume of this receiver is 80mm3, which provides up to 20% space saving compared with similar competitive products. Compared with the device, it can save up to 75% of the space. More importantly, compared with dynamic type receivers, LDS technology also greatly improves the output power per unit volume of audio frequency and has a cleaner mid-range sound.
Bob emphasized that by combining precision manufacturing capabilities and proprietary technologies in the audio business, Molex provides audio OEMs with the ability to cost-effectively design products, which are only half the size of traditional hearing aid products, and have excellent audio output power and quality. In addition, Molex is a global leader in LDS design and manufacturing. Using years of design and manufacturing experience, Molex can provide unique customized design solutions based on extensive LDS process knowledge, support technology and customers' unique electromechanical requirements.
In fact, LDS technology can be used in any electromechanical application that requires saving 3D space or a higher level of functionality, which cannot be achieved using standard 2D technologies such as PCBs or flexible circuits. Applications in medical electronics include: hearing aids, blood glucose meters, drug delivery systems, medical telemetry, catheter interfaces, and blood oxygen saturation sensors; in addition, LDS technology has also been widely used in consumer electronics, for mobile phones, tablets Applications such as antennas and connectors for computers and laptops.

Whaylan Soalr panel. Each module is rated by its DC output power under standard test conditions (STC) and hence the on field output power might vary. Power typically ranges from 100 to 365 Watts (W). The efficiency of a module determines the area of a module given the same rated output – an 8% efficient 230 W module will have twice the area of a 16% efficient 230 W module. Some commercially available solar modules exceed 24% efficiency.
