LED efficient lighting - collimate lens

Researchers at the Information Photonics Research Institute of the Xi'an Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics at the Chinese Academy of Sciences recently designed a lens for achieving highly efficient and collimated LED illumination. Recently, John Wallace, editor-in-chief of "International Laser", an authoritative magazine in the field of international optoelectronics, gave a special report on this new design method on the column of LED OPTICS.

As the fourth generation lighting source, LED is the key to achieve efficient light output and collimated lighting. John Wallace believes that the researchers used a simple, fast method to design two non-imaging LED collimating lenses, which is completely different from the complex iterative software design methods commonly used in existing LED optical designs. The collimating lens is very effective, it can focus 80% of the light emitted by the LED into a cylinder with a radius of 5 meters, and transmits the road 200 meters away from the light source.
