The world's leading electronic components company Molex has introduced ^Brad? SST â„¢ exciter sensor Interface (AS-i) module designed to connect Rockwell Logix control systems including CompactLogix, MicroLogix 1500 and ControlLogix to AS-Interface networks. The AS-i module provides an open fieldbus solution for easy connection to PLC backplanes and simple field I/O devices such as actuators and sensors , rotary encoders, analog inputs and outputs, push buttons, and valve position sensors . They are suitable for a wide range of industrial automation applications including conveyor belt control, packaging equipment, process control valves, infusion plants, power distribution systems, airport rotary conveyors, elevators, filling lines and food production lines.

According to George Kairys, global product manager at Molex , "With the two-button design and integrated display, one of the most prominent advantages of the AS-i module is the simple and convenient installation process. This fundamentally speeds up the debugging process and maximizes Reduced downtime, whether planned or unplanned."

The AS-i communication module is designed for chassis installation and can be connected to signals from AS-i field devices, transmit information to the PLC, and send control information back to the AS-i actuator . They meet the new AS-i 3.0 specification and are compatible with traditional models and the latest AS-i products. They also feature fast AS-i cycle times for high-speed device control applications. These modules can be bundled with cable and configuration software and have diagnostic capabilities to help identify configuration errors and network failures, further reducing commissioning and downtime.
