TDA89220 is a Class D (switching type) power amplifier IC produced by Philips. The device integrates analog circuits, digital circuits and two MOSFET half-bridge power stages on the same chip. It adopts 17-pin single in-line SOT243-1 package.
TDA89220 can form a single-ended connection (SE) stereo amplifier, the specific circuit shown in Figure 1. The amplifier supply voltage (VDD and VSS) ranges from ± 15V to ± 30V, and this circuit selects ± 25V. The output power of this stereo SE power amplifier circuit is 2 × 50W, the efficiency is 90%, the noise output voltage is about 100μVrms, the amplifier closed-loop gain is 30 ± 1dB, THD≤0.15% (P0 = 1W, f = 1kHz). The amplifier uses differential audio input, and the frequency of the IC oscillator is set by the external resistor ROS {1}. The IC has functions such as thermal protection and load short-circuit protection. The external current (RLIM) at pin {16} is used to regulate the limiting current. The input voltage (Vms) on the IC pin {17} is used for mode selection: standby, squelch suppression (silent), and conduction into normal operation. The IC also has a built-in de-clicking circuit, so that the amplifier has no on / off switching noise.
Figure 2 is a mono 100W bridged load (BTL) power amplifier circuit composed of TDA892.
The two Class D amplifier circuits shown in Figures 1 and 2 can be used for TV, home audio and multimedia systems.
