TDK develops a small pulse transformer ALT3232M series for LAN interface

TDK Co., Ltd. (President: Sakamoto Kenhiro) developed the ALT3232M series of small pulse transformers for LAN interfaces, and started mass production in July 2013.

The product further pursues miniaturization based on the external dimensions of the conventional product W: 4.5 × L: 3.2 × H: 2.8 (mm), and reduces the volume and the package area by about 30%, respectively, and realizes W: 3.2 × L: 3.2 × H: 2.8 mm size. Today, the transmission speed of Ethernet has increased from 100 Mbps to 1,000 Mbps, the amount of transmission has increased, and the number of pulse transformers has increased. Since a plurality of pulse transformers are mounted on one substrate, it is required to be miniaturized, and the product is meeting this demand.

At the same time, IT equipment such as PCs are the first. In recent years, AV equipment such as LCD TVs have begun to be equipped with LAN terminals. The pulse transformer is a key component mounted on the LAN interface. At the same time as the high-speed transmission of the pulse signal, it also has the function of insulation between the input and the input.

TDK fully utilizes the technology accumulated on SMD common mode filters, and builds a mass production system by means of automatic winding method. It can effectively control the characteristic deviation caused by manual winding, ensuring high reliability and quality.
