TE Connectivity's business unit TE Circuit Protection (TE CP) announced its SESD (silicon ESD) protection devices in series passive circuit of eight products now through AEC-Q101 certified for automotive applications, specifically for in-vehicle "information Entertainment "system. The SESD product line was first launched in February 2012 and completed the AEC-Q101 test in October 2012.
Like the general consumer electronics arena, automotive infotainment systems can take advantage of ultra-high-speed data interfaces, including USB 2.0 and 3.0, HDMI 1.3 and 1.4, DisplayPort, Thunderbolt, V-by-One HS, and LVDS protocols. These high-speed data lines can be affected by electrostatic discharge (ESD) events, but the SE Circuit Protection family of TE Circuit Protection includes a set of low-capacitance diodes that help protect these data lines. Another added advantage is that these SESD products are available in a small, ultra-thin, double-row, flat-lead (XDFN) package that saves PCB space and meets the demand for high-compact devices in consumer products.
SESD series devices feature low capacitance, unidirectional: 0.20pF typical, bidirectional: 0.110pF typical, for signal integrity at today's highest speed interfaces. The standard straight-through array package simplifies PCB design, and the product family offers an electronic design solution that meets tight space constraints.
The SESD product line successfully passed AEC-Q101 certification in October, meaning that in the high-growth automotive electronics market, these devices now offer fully competitive ESD protection for in-vehicle infotainment control panels.
Nicole Palma, Product Manager, TE Circuit Protection, said: "Electrostatic discharge can cause serious damage to today's highly complex consumer electronics products, especially on ultra-high-speed data interconnects, which are more susceptible to ESD events, and TE's SESD series are in these Connected to provide reliable circuit protection. Plus the in-vehicle infotainment system is now considered a must-have high value-added project, AEC-Q101 certification means ESD protection extends to the emerging automotive electronics sector. With these SESD products, it helps To ensure that the client's investment is protected."
The SESD series of ESD circuit protection devices meet the requirements of the EU RoHS/ELV standard.
