Molex , the world's leading provider of complete interconnect products, announces its Brad The HarshIO PROFINET I/O modules are now PNO (PROFIBUS Nutzerorganisation) certified and comply with the Industrial Ethernet (PROFINET) specification to meet all requirements of the consistent Class B. Molex recently introduced the Brad HarshIO module with Fast Start-Up (FSU) technology, providing a reliable solution for connecting industrial controllers to I/O devices for a wide range of applications, including higher machine control An automated system for horizontal and deterministic data cycles.

Eric Gory, global product manager at Molex, said: "The Brad HarshIO PROFINET I/O modules are certified to conformance Class B, confirming that these modules are PROFINET compliant and have trouble-free interoperability with other certified devices. HarshIO modules with FSU technology are used All industries where robots perform high-precision repetitive work, as well as harsh environmental applications, bring exceptional speed and optimized flexibility."

Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) support extends the network diagnostics capabilities of the Brad HarshIO module , such as port status information. Performance-adapted Media Redundancy Protocol (MRP) improves data reliability. The FSU technology for PROFINET enables the Brad HarshIO module to be up and running within 500ms. When using PROFINET to control sensors/exciters on robotic tools such as automatic welding robots, it is sometimes necessary to perform a quick change of the tool. During successful certification, the Brad HarshIO module meets all the requirements of a consistent Class B, including easy user-friendly module replacement without the need for an engineering tool.

In addition, the Brad HarshIO module supports a secure automation architecture that uses a separate power supply to power the inputs (sensors) and outputs (actuators). The HarshIO Ethernet power connector includes separate ground isolation between the input/logic ground and the output ground. This feature allows the module to be powered with two distinct power supplies, which is typically used for security applications.

Gory explains: "System designers often use safety relays to perform periodic pulse tests that can detect shorts, ground faults, or ground faults. If an error is detected, safety features are triggered to avoid harmful and dangerous shop conditions."

The Brad HarshIO module complements a wide range of Molex products, including power cords, sockets, fieldbus connectors, Ethernet switches, PC interfaces, gateways, diagnostic tools, and simulation software.
