Open source 3D printed solar lighting SULI

Do you know that every 7 people on the planet have a lack of ready-made electricity? They usually use kerosene lamps or candles to get lighting. After all, it is not as safe as electricity, and it is often dangerous.

The invention of the Ximena Munoz team from Santiago, Chile - SULI, is a solar, multi-purpose light designed to provide safe, affordable and flexible lighting solutions to help those living in third world countries or People like other places. Munoz has launched an Indiegogo campaign seeking $20,000 to raise funds for the start of mass production of this lighting module.

The magic of SULI is that it can be used in absolute numbers, thanks in large part to 3D printing. SULI can not only screw it into any bottle in life, but also turn it into a light, and the design is completely open source, which helps users design and print their own modules. Want to let SULI hang on the window and use it as a backpack light? Or on your bicycle handlebars? These can be achieved.

The company has designed and printed several of these lamp accessories but is also willing to share the excitement of designing and printing new modules for more incredible applications.

SULI is very efficient, with three battery powers of 25 lumens, and high-brightness LEDs last for 50 hours on a single charge. Typical charging times are between 6-12 hours, depending on the total amount of available sunlight. This means you can recharge every day and then use it for lighting at night.

The team behind SULI is not just trying to make a profit on this invention. They are looking for ways to change the lives of people in third world countries, starting from Bhutan and Haiti. In Bhutan, approximately 3,500 people live in a water-free or lighting environment, including more than 800 students in five schools. SULI has partnered with the Chilean charity America Solidaria, which will build four wells in the city, and SULI will provide lighting for these wells, and if their projects are adequately funded, they will at least provide solar lighting solutions to schools in Bhutan. A higher goal is to provide home lighting for everyone in the city.
